With injuries and cancellations delaying their previously-scheduled June 7th date at London’s O2 Arena as part of UFC 85, the UFC has officially confirmed that Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans will face off at UFC 88 on September 6th in Atlanta’s Phillips Arena.

Previous discussions for the fight card’s main event even had the possibility of having UFC middleweight champion and pound-for-pound MMA king Anderson “The Spider” Silva moving up in weight to take on Liddell.

Tickets for the event will go on sale this Wednesday to UFC Fight Club members and to the general public this Saturday.

The fight will be the first for Rashad Evans in almost 10 months since his bout against Michael Bisping at UFC 78 in Newark, New Jersey.

The UFC will be the second MMA promoter to have an event at the Phillips Arena. The American Fight League held an event in the arena in late May.

This will be the first time the UFC has been in Georgia since UFC 13: Full Force when it was held at the Augusta Civic Center in 1997.

Chuck Liddell had to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Evans as a result of a severely damaged hamstring.
