Number one heavyweight contender, Cain Velasquez, tells Dave Meltzer at Yahoo! Sports that he's working hard in the gym, getting ready to go 25 hairy minutes with division champion, Brock Lesnar, at UFC 21 on Oct. 23. After Shane Carwin failed to finish Lesnar, hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink, Velasquez -- whose punching power leaves much to be desired -- knows that his speed, conditioning and all around mixed martial arts skills are what will carry him to victory. But will it be enough ... especially for a man giving up more than 20 pounds in size and strength on fight night?
"... the referee isn’t going to be quick to stop the fight.... I can’t just stand there in front of him with no movement and let him explode for a double [-leg takedown].... The wrestling is going to be a big part of it. He’s primarily a wrestler and I come from a wrestling background. But the fight will come down to everything. I expect there will be boxing, jiu-jitsu, kickboxing and wrestling.... [But] I’m going to have to follow the game plan to perfection."
