Exclusive NHB Show News

July 19th has now become a crowded night in mixed martial arts. Aside from the scheduled premiere card from Affliction at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, the UFC has announced a fight card that same evening which will air live on Spike TV.

Drew Fickett is an Enigma. He was originally scheduled to fight Jake Shields on the EliteXC "Return of the King" card in Hawaii on June 14th but purportedly suffered an injury that precluded him from fighting. The NHB Show learned from an interview with Jake on the air that unbeknownst to EliteXC, Drew had fought on a card June 7th, despite his injury.

With injuries and cancellations delaying their previously-scheduled June 7th date at London’s O2 Arena as part of UFC 85, the UFC has officially confirmed that Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans will face off at UFC 88 on September 6th in Atlanta’s Phillips Arena.
Wanderlei Silva has reportedly declined a bout against Brandon Vera for the impromptu July 19th UFC card.

Devin Cole, Former IFL and current Palace Fighting Championship fighter, was arrested Saturday morning and charged with 2 counts first-degree sexual penetration and two degrees of first-degree sodomy, according to sherdog.com.

July 19th is a D-Day of sorts for Tom Atencio and Affliction as they will broadcast their debut MMA event on pay-per-view. The card is headlined by a bout featuring two of the world’s top five heavyweights in Fedor Emelianenko and Tim Sylvia. In what is being reported as a last-ditch effort, the UFC is in the midst of creating a card on the same date with a possible broadcast on SpikeTV.
