BET is jumping into the MMA reality game with their own original series "Iron Ring". The show will feature a half hour weekly series that showcases mixed martial arts, one of the fastest growing sports in america, with a Hip Hop flair.
Teams owned by Ludacris, Nelly, Floyd Mayweather, T.I., Lil Jon, and Dipset will go toe-to-toe for $100,000 in total prize money. From competitive team tryouts and grueling practices to the final face-off at the live championship, IRON RING not only exposes the hardcore sport of mixed martial arts, but also explores the human element by providing insight into the lives of the fighters and coaches.
"Iron Ring" brings in some of the best MMA talent to teach the up-and-comers a little more about the sport. Mr. International Shonie Carter steps in as a coach and brings his personal flair as well as his fighting talent to the table. Some of the other coaches on the show are Roberto Spider Traven, Novell G. Bell, Charles Krazy Horse Bennett, Jermaine Andre, and Abdul Mutakabbir.
"Iron Ring" is scheduled to begin March 18th and will run at 11 PM ET/PT for 13 episodes.
